LeRoy Neiman (born LeRoy Leslie Runquist, June 8, 1921 – June 20, 2012) was an American artist known for his brilliantly colored, expressionist paintings and screen prints of athletes, musicians, and sporting events.
A superb draftsman and brilliant colorist, LeRoy Neiman captures the essential drama of an action or event in his work. Throughout his career, Neiman and his art have been associated with the best and brightest stars of sport and screen. In addition to portraying nearly every major sports figure of our time, Neiman has also looked to famous movie celebrities and well-know political figures as subjects for his powerful imagery.
His depiction of animal life has won him critical acclaim and some of his limited edition serigraphs, such as "Elephant Stampede" fetch in excess of $20,000!
